Yesterday was the hardest day of my life. My nephew had one dream and goal for his high school career. He wanted to bring the Tennessee State Championship to his small catholic high school here in Chattanooga, Tn. This year his senior year the team, with the help of a new coach, defied the odds and played and in the state Semi-Final match Wednesday near Nashville. They played a very expensive private school from nearby whose team is predominately Brazilian and spanish speaking. And also the kind of players who know how to get the calls. Meaning they recruit their athletes and are able to help financially. They must learn how to flop before they can talk in some cultures Both teams were undefeated. My nephews team was the under dog and not supposed to win. So after we scored the first goal late in the second half and were looking good to win the other team did what i have seen for the entire year. The losing team decides they want to provoke the winning team into a fight so they get a red card. Or they are just trying to hurt someone. The last 10 minutes of the game was a series of flagrant attempts to do just that. And in the final god damn 5 seconds of the game my nephew was dribbling the ball down the sideline as our team celebrated the victory. The defender grabs my nephew by neck and drives him towards the turf in efforts to steal the ball and of course my nephew doesnt know how to flop or go down if he can fight to stay up. But, to the refs credit, he finally calls a foul on the thug team but my nephew whips the ball at the kid as he is getting off his knees. The game buzzer has sounded. The defender then two hand pushes my nephew who was then grabbed by the referee. The orher team all charge the field, pushing the ref, pushing our players, punching a few in the head. Then the state officials come on the field and the thugs start pushing them. So, we win! Yay, right? Well. Kinda. That night the state reviews the tape and decides to give a 9 kids red cards on the losing team. Their season is over. Who cares? It is a non penalty. My nephew, also gets a red cars and must sit out the state final. Which we lost yesterday as he watched from the bench, to a team we had beat two weeks before in a similiar game. (Another team of Brazilians who are great at falling down.) Our coach and school appealed all morning sending in footage of all the crap they did all game provoking us but they finally informed him and his family a few hours before kickoff that je wouldnt be suiting up for the final game of his high school career. And he would not fullfill his one dream of high school and getting his school the State title. My nephew took it well, but he is devastated. My sister was throwing up before the game in disbelief. I was on my knees when i heard the news, knowing just how hard he and his team worked for this chance. I am in tears writing this now. I needed to get this off my chest and I dont post ofter on here but Being a bitcoiner, and you all may not know, you guys are my famiky and we stick together.
