If all you need is data on a Graphene phone, Silent Link is usually the one people end up sticking with.

7a with graphene.

Am I screaming into the void everytime I say that your phone is a snitch? What ICE is buying isn’t some secret backdoor. It’s your network and apps leaking ad IDs and GPS pings. They aggregate it, stitch it, and sell it back to the state. Graphene strips more out at the root but it's not magic. OS, app, and settings selection can limit the amount and type of data leaked but there is no way to stop it completely unless you faraday, rotate burners, or just don't carry a phone. https://untraceabledigitaldissident.com/smartphone-privacy-guide/
3b7fc8236:e194354f
Don't make it harder than it is. A privacy screen runs for $10 and graphene and other OSs have option to scramble pin input layout so there is no order to capture. The more difficult it is the less likely you are going to do it.

Graphene protects from corporate surveillance, not state. You're still on the network. Either don't carry a phone or rotate burners.
3b7fc8236:e194354f
Graphene has a clean dialer. If you are using android maybe considering not using the stock Google one that automatically syncs to your Google account
3b7fc8236:e194354f
On graphene the profiles are completely sand boxed. You can have your normie profile with Gmail, banking app, and LinkedIn, then have your dissident profile

I have no idea what your threat model is. You would have to decide what amount of friction you are willing to live with. The most effective fix is to not own a phone in the first place. This is a bit extreme if you are just trying to avoid surveillance capalism but absolutely necessary if a state actor is after you. You are right that there are more and easier apps for iOS than graphene but NOT for the right reasons. If you are looking for a magical app or device to accomplish this it is just not possible. Even if you cloak your traffic with a perfect VPN chain, your radio modem still screams your location to the nearest towers every few seconds. That signal is tied to your IMSI (SIM identity), and your IMEI (device ID) gets swept up too unless you've spoofed or blocked it somehow (which most phones won’t let you do without deeper firmware-level games). If you are a activist and doing activist things or going to meetings then do not take your phone with you. Only communicate with burners on secure channels. Most people don't need to worry about this but if you have a elevated threat model then Compartmentalize. Have a personal phone at home that's wifi only and a burner that stays in a faraday bag. I have a old article on how to use a burner phone posted on nostr. I will dig it up and put it on the blog.

The stock camera app on graphene doesn't save location, etc by default. Also in pictures on click the little i in a circle at the top. It will display properties, click Remove EXIF at the bottom.

It's what I use for friends and family. SimpleX is great for people I don't know that well or at all. I use matrix instead of telegram for groups. Newpipe as a YouTube replacement. You have a pixel now, so can actually download Tor browser. Vanadium is ok but I'm not a huge fan of chrome. I use a hardened fennec. Take advantage of having different accounts. Put banking apps on one profile. Bitcoin on another. Tor and Firefox Focus on another, etc. I actually have 2 phones. A normie phone that runs graphene and a burner phone I bought with cash out of town and it lives in a Faraday bag.

Best guess graphene is dead in future models, but I have hope that I'm wrong

Never. Google won't unlock it for Graphene or anyone else to do it.
3b7fc8236:e194354f
I'm not sure if it's on the cashapp side or Graphene. Fold and strike work just fine. Cashapp and NFC is the only thing I have found that won't work
3b7fc8236:e194354f
A smartphone. I want to just use it on the go from my phone but the cashapp app doesn't work on Graphene OS
3b7fc8236:e194354f
I just want a checking account with a debit card that allows me to save in Bitcoin. Why is that so hard? I love cash app but the app doesn't work on Graphene OS which is a roadblock for me. Strike is awesome but no checking account. It would be my first choice to send money international but I rarely have a need for that. River seems promising but it closes my account every time I try to log into it because I use a always on VPN. WTF river, why are you making this harder than it needs to be? Has anyone used the new Fold app? I've had a fold Card forever but never use it. Just a load and spend, rewards weren't that great, and no lightning withdrawal. BUT I see they have recently added a checking account through Sutton bank like cashapp. Insured Bitcoin account that can be converted to fiat into the checking account. The sats back seems like a gimmick but if I can pay bills with fiat and keep money I don't need right now in Bitcoin this might become my regular checking account. Going to give it a month or two trial run.

Graphene has a duress pin. Wipes the phone
3b7fc8236:e194354f
I'm vaguely remembering that you can change the date but not delete on iphone. 🤷 Just manually removing it in your windows folder will probably be the easiest route. Btw Graphene automatically removes the metadata of any picture taken
3b7fc8236:e194354f
I just picked up a 7a for cheap on ebay and loaded graphene. Loving it
3b7fc8236:e194354f
That's what you want. Just make sure you use a really good cord to connect the phone to the computer when you install graphene. If you run into weird problems try a different cord. No one ever mentiones that but it's incredibly finicky about the cord.
3b7fc8236:e194354f
